Twitter briefly changes logo to Dogecoin cryptocurrency

Twitter changes its logo to Dogecoin-associated image of viral shiba inu dog, causing an upsurge of the currency

Twitter changed its iconic blue bird logo on Monday, mimicking the logo of the popular cryptocurrency Dogecoin, which features an image of the internet viral dog.

The niche cryptocurrency witnessed a 30% surge in value immediately after.

It was noted that Twitter's homepage and loading screen were both changed to the shiba inu image associated with the Dogecoin meme-coin cryptocurrency. Twitter CEO, Elon Musk, tweeted a meme with the dog, which was perceived by many as a late April Fool's joke.

The official Dogecoin account also tweeted, “Very currency. Wow. Much Coin. How Money. So Crypto.” in response.

The change came just days after Musk petitioned a US court to dismiss a lawsuit filed against him by Dogecoin investors for $258 billion over an alleged pyramid scheme, The Guardian reported. The complaint has stated that “Musk used his pedestal as the world’s richest man to operate and manipulate the Dogecoin Pyramid Scheme for profit, exposure and amusement."

On changing Twitter's logo, Dogecoin jumped from US$0.079 to US$0.094, the highest value the currency has been since last November.
