Microsoft Bing chatbot to get ads
Microsoft corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi has announced that the company was “exploring placing ads in the chat experience,” which was confirmed by Microsoft spokesperson.
According to The Verge, Caitlin Roulston, a director of communications at Microsoft, has confirmed that ads will begin rolling out in the AI-powered chatbot, specifically between chats. The company has reportedly been testing placing ads in Bing for a while.
Debarghya Das tweeted a photo, providing insight into how the ads might appear in the chat once placed.

In the blog post of Microsoft, Mehdi said that the company wanted to “share the ad revenue with partners whose content contributed to the chat response.” It is unclear the volume of ads users will get and whether the chatbot will respond with an ad or source a response from a publisher or website. This will put into question the entire accuracy of responses provided by Bing, if they are ad or non-ad responses.
