Centre to be set up to counter fake news: Sharjeel

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced the establishment of an information call centre at the Provincial Information Department while directing the information secretary to prepare PC1 for the project.

The minister made the announcement while presiding over a meeting convened to review the performance of the information department at his office on Saturday. He said that the call centre would provide timely and authentic information on the policies and initiatives of the Sindh government and would also counter fake news and propaganda against the government.

Sharjeel said that the publicity of the government’s development projects should be ensured.

He said that focus should be on the social media wing of the department and its performance should be improved.
