Corruption: Hajj director’s judicial remand extended

Ahmad was produced before the judge who extended remand and ordered jail officials to produce him on September 10.

An accountability court on Saturday extended the judicial remand of former Hajj director Rao Shakeel Ahmad for 14 days. Ahmad is accused of having assets beyond his legal income.


He was produced before the judge who extended the remand and ordered the jail officials to produce him on September 10.

The court also directed NAB authorities to submit a reference against him as soon as possible.

According to NAB, Ahmad owns a textile mill along and an expensive property on Ferozepur Road. NAB also found Rs5 million in the account of Shakeel’s nine-year-old daughter.


Sentenced

An Anti-narcotics Court on Saturday awarded a five-year jail term to a drug peddler. Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) had arrested Rehmat Ali and seized 3 kilogrammes of heroin from his possession.

Later, ANF had registered a narcotics case against him and submitted case evidence in the Anti-Narcotics Court. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on him.
