Broadcaster launches autobiography

Mahpara Safdar’s book contains her analysis of media workers over the decades

RAWALPINDI:

Prominent newscaster, journalist, author and poet Mahpara Safdar’s autobiography titled “Mera Zamana Meri Kahani” (My era, My story) was launched at Punjab Arts Council on Monday.

The experts, journalists, writers, politicians and academicians shed light on the creative and artistic abilities of Mahpara, saying her memoir is an interesting account of history, profession and life events.

Naheed Manzoor, who was the chief guest at the book launching ceremony, said that Mahpara has a very unique writing style. She has divided her memoir into three parts. The first part covers the events of her childhood, education, family life and early days of radio with her parents and sisters, while the second part covers her time spent on radio and PTV, the politics of the country and the events that took place during that time. The third part contains essays on her BBC engagements in the United Kingdom. In the last part of the book, she includes her poems and lyrics.

Mahpara said that the book contains personal analysis of the media workers over the decades. People made her realise that it was her love, affection, respect and commitment to people like her that kept her alive.
