FAISALABAD:

Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General (DG) Muhammad Asif Chaudhry stated that a 44-million-gallon waste-water treatment plant would be built in the city’s eastern outskirts with funding from DENIDA (Danish International Development Agency).

The waste-water treatment plant would be useful for recycling wastewater for irrigation purposes, as well as improving the city’s environmental conditions. On Monday, he expressed these views at a meeting to review the Rs19 billion mega project. The meeting was attended by Danish Ambassador Jakob Linulf, DSIF Investment Director Bente Schiller, Managing Director Water and Sanitation Agency Jabbar Anwar, and others.

The DG said the water treatment plant would also reduce pollution in the Ravi River, and wastewater after treatment could be used for irrigation. According to Project Director Saqib Raza, it is a significant project with a total cost of Rs19 billion that will be completed in four years.
