Dept heads of Pattoki campus brief visitors about standards adopted

LAHORE:

A team of the National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council (NAEAC) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) reviewed the facilities for the BS (Hons) poultry science, fisheries and aquaculture, and dairy technology degrees at the Ravi Campus of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS).

According to a press release, the dean of the faculty of animal production and technology along with the principal officer of then campus in Pattoki briefed the team during the pre-accreditation visit on the teaching and lab facilities. The chairperson of each department also gave an overview regarding the NAEAC standards being followed.

The committee visited the departments, including poultry, dairy and fish farms, milk and fish processing plants, zoological museum, central laboratory complex, hostels, sports complex and other research and training facilities.

Its members also met the undergraduate and postgraduate students and faculty.

They conveyed to the dean the necessary areas for improvement in various departments.

In another development, the UVAS signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government College Women University Sialkot for enhancing academic and research cooperation.

Vice Chancellor Dr Nasim Ahmad said on the occasion that the UVAS was the first public sector university that had attained a license from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) for vaccine production against the deadly foot and mouth disease (FMD) of livestock. The university is also working on patents of the researchers’ work.

Under the MoU, both institutions will develop proposals as well as will conduct joint research and development projects and provide opportunities for the students regarding internships, mutual access to facilities for academic activities.
