Lahore admin temporarily closes educational institutes surrounding Zaman Park

LAHORE:

Educational institutions were closed in some areas of the city on Wednesday due to the tense situation regarding the attempter arrest of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

PTI workers and leaders again faced tear gas shelling, water cannons and rubber bullets fired by the police.

Police from three districts participated in the operation while Rangers personnel were also present.

With the apparent aim of enforcing non-bailable warrants issued for the arrest of Imran Khan, police personnel remained at Zaman Park, where his home is located. They faced strong resistance from the PTI workers. Clashes between police and PTI workers continued for several hours..

Once again, the police shelled the protesters since early morning. Petrol bottles were also allegedly thrown at security personnel.

Due to the tense situation, the administration of Lahore announced that schools and colleges in some areas would remain closed.

The educational institutions in Garhi Shahu, Mall Road, Dharmapura, Mughalpura, Mian Mir and Jail Road areas remained closed. Some offices on Mall Road also remained closed due to shelling.
