Culture Day showcases colourful heritage

Punjab Culture Day was celebrated across the province with events organised at the arts councils, schools, local government offices and museums.

Folk singers, government officials, poets and scholars talked about the Punjabi language and culture.

Major cultural events were organised in Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Lahore and other cities.

The biggest celebration was hosted by the Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore.

Caretaker Minister for Information and Culture Amir Mir and Minister for Auqaf Syed Azfar Ali Nasir inaugurated the celebrations, watched a documentary on cultural heroes and enjoyed colourful cultural performances.

Amir Mir addressed the ceremony in Punjabi, saying the culture of Punjab was a beautiful blend of fascinating cultural colours of different regions of the province. The purpose of celebrating the day is to show the colours of Punjab’s beautiful culture to the world.

He said the culture day celebrations were being organised at the government level across Punjab.
