Ministers stress coordination between health depts

Primary angioplasty facilities in teaching, DHQ, THQ hospitals reviewed

Caretaker Provincial Minister of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Dr Javed Akram and Minister of Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir reviewed the primary angioplasty facilities in the DHQ, THQ and government teaching, hospitals during a meeting on Tuesday.

Dr Akram said on the occasion that both the health departments had joined hands to create facilities for patients coming for primary angioplasty in cardiology hospitals of Punjab.

Primary angioplasty facility is being provided to more than 60 patients daily in the cardiology hospitals.

He said a proposal to empanel private hospitals under the universal health coverage to provide primary angioplasty to heart patients in the districts was also being considered.

He stressed the importance of improving coordination between the health departments to provide more treatment facilities for patients suffering from heart diseases. “We want to fully implement the international guidelines of chest pain in the treatment and management of patients with heart diseases,” he said.
