An incident of killing a man and injuring his son after their abduction from the Karahi area of Rawalpindi’s Chauntra police station turned out to be an honour killing. According to the sources, a man lost his life after a video went viral on social media regarding a suspected love affair between a boy and the suspect’s sister in the Chauntra area of the garrison city.
The accused suspected that the son of the deceased had an affair with their sister.
The complainant told the police that Riyasat and others suspected that Aftab Hussain son of Inayat Hussain had an affair with Riyasat’s sister and a video pertaining to that also went viral on social media. Inayat and his son Shujaat were present in their house when Riyasat, his brothers Asif and others arrived with weapons, he maintained.
The complainant said the suspects kidnapped the victim and his son at gunpoint and when the relatives went outside in search of the victims, they saw the suspects opening fire at the victims in the deserted area.
As a result, both Inayat and Shujaat got seriously injured and the suspects ran away while opening fire.
Subsequently, Inayat died while being shifted to the hospital while Shujaat’s condition is said to be critical.
