KARACHI:

An anti-terrorism court remanded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Arsalan Taj to the police on two-day physical remand. The PTI leader is facing charges pertaining to a rioting outside the office of Keamari's deputy commissioner.

The court presented the lawmaker before the court. The court remanded him to police custody and sought a report from the investigating officer at the next hearing.

While outside the court, Taj said that his party workers were undeterred by arrests and would stand by their leader Imran Khan.

MPA Khurram Sher Zaman called Taj's arrest was political victimisation. He claimed that the PPP, which is power in Sindh, was worried because the PTI had revealed its corruption in the province.

A day before his arrest on Sunday, Taj had named PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon while accusing the PPP of corruption of billions rupees. He described the Jamaat-e-Islami as the "PPP's B team".
