Quick tips to help you with Microsoft Teams
Online meeting platforms saw massive growth during Covid-19. While the use of such platforms might not be very high anymore, the platforms have made it easier for people to connect online at any point in time. One such platform is Microsoft Teams.
From office meetings to attending online classes, Teams has been an essential part. To make better use of the platform, here are some quick tips;
1. Showing availability
There are times when you are available for the meetings, whereas there are days when you do not want any notifications or disturbance on the platform so that you can focus on work. To indicate your availability, click your Teams profile icon and select Available. You can choose any options from the list, such as Do not disturb or Be right back.
2. Keyboard shortcuts
If you want to do certain functions quickly, here are some shortcuts for you;
- Search: Ctrl+E
- Turn off the camera: Ctrl+Shift+O
- Mute: Ctrl+Shift+M
- Background blurring: Ctrl+Shift+P
- Open your files: Ctrl+6
3. Hide conversations
If you have a lot of conversations and need help keeping track of important ones, this is for you. Click on the three dots to the right of the channel name. Click Hide from the menu. This way, you can keep essential conversations right in front of you.
4. Preview your video
If you are unsure how you will look once you turn your camera on, here is what to do. Hover over the Turn camera on to preview your video. You will also see options like Blur my background or More background effects to preview different backgrounds or add your own.
