For Shah Rukh Khan, ‘Pathaan's’ success is ‘strictly personal’

Actor’s latest has done a business of INR5,283m

Shah Rukh Khan is basking in the success of his recently released film Pathaan. On Wednesday, the actor thanked everyone for showering it with so much love. He also said the film's success is “strictly personal”.

Taking to Twitter, the Om Shanti Om actor noted, “making people smile and entertaining them is our business,” adding that it should be taken personally.

“It's not the business… it's strictly personal. Making people smile and entertaining them is our business and if we don’t take it personally, it will never fly,” tweeted Shah Rukh.

“Thanks to all who gave Pathaan their love and all who worked on the film and proved ke mehnat lagan aur bharosa abhi zinda hai (hard work, dedication and trust are still alive). Jai Hind,” he added.

Pathaan has become the highest-grossing Hindi film ever, breaking the record of Baahubali 2. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the film, "Pathaan in Tamil and Telugu during its fifth week: Friday–2 lacs, Saturday–3 lacs, Sunday–5 lacs, Monday–2 lacs, Tuesday–2 lacs, Wednesday–2 lacs, Thursday–2 lacs. Total: INR182.4 million. Pathaan in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu combined business–INR5,283 million.” The Hindi lifetime collection of Baahubali 2 stood at INR5,110 million.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Siddharth Anand expressed his gratitude to fans for praising the film.  He was quoted by ANI as saying, "I'm just so happy and grateful that Pathaan has been entertaining people globally. To hit 1000 plus crore gross worldwide and 500 crore net in Hindi version is simply historic, and we are thankful for the love that people have showered on Pathaan. As a director, I couldn't be prouder to have made a film that is bringing joy to so many people globally."

Apart from Shah Rukh, Pathaan also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana. The film follows the titular spy (Shah Rukh) who comes out of exile to stop terrorist group Outfit X from launching a debilitating attack on India. Released on January 25, Pathaan is produced by Yash Raj Films and written by Shridhar Raghavan.
