Police arrested on Wednesday the driver of a 60-year-old skin specialist who was found brutally murdered at his residence in the Citizen Colony area of Hyderabad late Tuesday

SSP Amjad Ahmed said that the the cook told them about the drive murdering the doctor after an altercation. Quoting the cook, he told media that the driver had fled in the doctor’s car. The police later arrested the cook, Hanif, from a village in the Khairpur district.

The brutal murder shocked the medical fraternity as well as residents. health professionals in Hyderabad boycotted work on Wednesday to protest the murder. The doctor’s wife and children were in the US. According to the SSP, the cook Dileep Thakur had witnessed the murder. The cook had claimed that the two had gotten into an argument after Dr Rathi accused the driver of stealing petrol. Following that argument, the driver killed the doctor by slitting his throat, the cook told the police.

SHO Bhittai Nagar Asghar Tunio said they would register an FIR once the late doctor’s family return to the country. They handed over the body to the deceased’s brother, Dr Om Prakash, following the postmortem at Liaquat University Hospital.

Dr Rathi was a skin specialist at Liaquat University Hospital. He also had a private practice in Saddar, Hyderabad.
