ISLAMABAD:

An art exhibition was held at the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) to mark ‘International Women’s Day’ and to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across the globe.

DG PNCA Ayoub Jamali, PNCA’s board member Asma Rashid and National College of Arts fine arts department’s HOD Ayesha Durrani spoke at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman also attended the show and encouraged the artists. The opening ceremony was followed by a pantomime on the educational rights of women by Waqar Azeem, Abu Bakar Hussain and Iqra Aftab who mesmerised the audience with their amazing performance.

On the occasion, one of the speakers said that for centuries women artists have inspired and enlightened us with their enormous talent, vision and commitment. Many have served as creative trailblazers in their chosen styles and mediums. Their contributions have gone under-recognised and they couldn’t receive the accolades they deserved.

This carefully curated exhibition is sure to make an impression; it provides audiences with essential opportunities to connect with new perspectives on the world, experience exciting materials used in novel ways, and see different approaches to what art is.

This exhibition includes work by a variety of national and foreign contributors. This exhibition provides a seldom-seen perspective on dramatic social and political transformations taking place around the globe.

The artwork displayed by 43 artists promises to add personal tales from the lives and eyes of women.
