KARACHI:

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday against what JI calls a 'quite illogical' delay in holding the local government elections in the remaining 11 union councils in the mega city.

The JI leader, through Saifuddin Advocate and Usman Farooq Advocate, petitioned the court with a plea to decide the matter of schedule for the local government polls in Karachi's remaining 11 union councils as well as the cases pending decision before the ECP to complete the electoral process for the local government setup in Karachi.

Elections were postponed on these seats due to the death of contestants. After filing the case, Rehman held a media talk and shed light in detail on the matter.

The JI leader strongly criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan for playing the role of a facilitator for the PPP government in Sindh against all the norms and values of neutrality and aspirations of the nation.
