RAWALPINDI:

On the directives of the Director General Military Lands and Cantonments (MLC), the open court held on every Tuesday for immediate solutions to the problems of the cantonment residents, was shifted from the wide lawn of the cantonment office to a small room.

Given the gradual decrease in the number of citizens turning up at the hearings every Tuesday, the responsibility of holding the open court by the cantonment executive officer has also been assigned to the deputy cantonment executive officer.

It should be noted that when the open court was started, the first four sessions were held on the wide lawn of the cantonment office in which a large number of citizens participated.

However, due to the lack of positive opinion of the citizens regarding the immediate solution to the problems presented in the open courts, the number of citizens in the open courts decreased dramatically, and then due to bad weather the open court was once held inside a room. Since then it has been made a routine practice. It should be noted that in the open courts held so far, the Cantt residents presented a plethora of issues pertaining to the facilities of drinking water, sanitation, sewage, tax, building plans, encroachments.
