USAID provides K-P e-procurement system

E-procurement system to ensure efficiency, transparency and loss prevention

PESHAWAR:

The United States government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has provided support to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (KP-PPRA) in setting up an electronic procurement system.

This bespoke software will automate and standardize the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government's procurement system, ensuring efficiency, transparency and loss prevention.

On this occasion, the US Consul General in Peshawar, Panfilo Marquez and USAID Mission Director Reed Aeschliman met with KP Government Chief Secretary Imdad Ullah Bosal and PPRA KP MD Mian Adil Iqbal in a ceremony. They congratulated and inaugurated the successful development and launch of the software.

Addressing the ceremony, Consul General Marquez said that the government has a responsibility to use the tax-payers' capital wisely so as to win the public's trust in their government by maintaining a transparent record of these expenditures.

He said that PPARA-KP's understanding of the importance of accountability and its efforts to improve the procurement system are commendable.

While expressing his views, USAID Mission Director Aeschliman said that a decade-long partnership with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is a source of pride for USAID.

He said that by working together, we have improved the lives and livelihood of the people of Pakistan through activities and programs related to economic development, education and hygiene.

And most important at the present time are the relief and rehabilitation measures after last year's devastating floods.
