LAHORE:

An investigation team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) handed former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar a 20-page questionnaire to fill and present at the next hearing of the "assets beyond known sources of income" inquiry against him.

According to sources, Buzdar could not provide satisfactory responses to the investigation team’s questions and insisted that the matter was under hearing in courts. Buzdar also expressed ignorance regarding certain questions and requested time for legal consultation.

NAB called for records against Buzdar from various departments and summoned him again next week. NAB Lahore stated that it received a complaint against Buzdar for attaining assets through corruption.

After the appearance, the former Punjab chief said that he “fully cooperated with the NAB investigation team”.

He furthered that their questions – such as if he had built properties in Spain – were ridiculous, and the questions had nothing to do with him directly or indirectly.

Buzdar maintained that all records had been submitted before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
