Fifth-grader injured at school gala dies

A fifth-grade student who was critically injured after being hit in the neck by a glass bottle last month succumbed to his injuries Wednesday.

Huzaifa was a student in the primary section at The Smart School in Kazimabad. He had entered an art gala for the secondary section on February 24. He was hit with a piece of glass from a broken bottle after another student trying to open it had an accident.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit at the Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital. The child's father had registered a case against the school the Model Colony Police on February 27 against the school administration on the complaint of the father.

The Directorate of Inspection of Private Institutions had suspended the school's registration.
