Lahore, Faisalabad to host Spring Festival in March
The provincial capital is set to host the annual Spring Festival from March 5 to 12 and Faisalabad from March 4 to 12.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi was briefed on the arrangements for the programmes planned in both cities during the festival.
Sports, culture, tourism, music, fireworks and pet shows will be organised as part of the festival in addition to marathon races and cycling competitions. Children, women, differently-abled persons and athletes will participate in the marathon races.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sahir Ali Bagha and other famous singers will present a musical show. Mehfil-e-Sama will also be organised in Lahore and Faisalabad.
The events will be organised in the Iqbal Stadium and University of Agriculture in Faisalabad.
Players from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will also participate in the sports events at the GC University Faisalabad. Special celebrations in connection with International Women's Day will be part of the celebrations and a women Mushaira will also be organised.
A floral and Chinioti furniture exhibition has also been planned along with horse and camel dances, cow and buffalo milk competitions and a heavy bike show in Faisalabad. Cultural floats will also be prepared for the carnival.
A laser light and sound show under the auspices of the Walled City Authority will be presented in Lahore.
The canals in Lahore and Faisalabad will be decorated and lighting arranged.
The caretaker chief minister was informed that more than 7,000 students would participate in a torchlight march at Government College University Lahore. Food festivals will also be part of the events.
Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi said maximum participation of citizens in the festival should be ensured.
