Crackdown on property tax defaulters begins today
The Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department (ET&NCD) has devised a plan to launch a crackdown against domestic, commercial, and luxury property tax defaulters in Rawalpindi today (Thursday).
According to official sources, the excise department approved the attachment of the houses of all small and big defaulters and ordered officials to freeze their bank accounts and seal household valuables, vehicles, and motorcycles, besides issuing bailable and non-bailable warrants for their arrest.
Following the instructions of the ET&NCD Director General (DG) Muhammad Ali, the property branch of the department has prepared a list of 20 thousand big and small defaulters and has handed them over to the excise inspectors and field assistant helpers.
The officials will launch a crackdown against these defaulters from today (Thursday), the sources added.
According to the directives issued by the DG, household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air-conditioners worth up to Rs0.3 million should be sealed and kept in separate rooms inside the houses.
Similarly, the top official has also ordered authorities to seal the bikes of small defaulters.
Meanwhile, the names of all defaulters will be sent to financial institutions to freeze their bank accounts.
