17 killed in Punjab road accidents

The majority of RTCs, 72 percent, involved motorbikes

The Punjab Emergency Service Department (PESD) responded to 1,063 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. According to PESD, 17 people were killed and 1,128 were injured.

Of the injured, 608 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 520 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams, reducing the burden on hospitals.

The majority of RTCs, 72 percent, involved motorbikes. Further analysis showed that 554 drivers, 35 underage drivers, 173 pedestrians, and 418 passengers were among the victims of RTCs.

The statistics show that 249 RTCs were reported in Lahore with 249 victims, placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list.

Faisalabad followed behind with 63 RTCs and 74 victims and Multan at third with 53 RTCs and 62 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,128 victims were affected by RTCs, including 894 males & 251 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 207 were under 18 years of age, 581 were between 18 and 40 years old and the remaining 357 victims were reportedly above 40 years of age.
