Campaign: Over 12,215 raids conducted in July against tainted food

As many as 12,215 raids were conducted under anti-adulteration campaign by 24 special teams in Rawalpindi division during July. Ninety-eight people were arrested during these raids, said Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Zahid Saeed.



He told APP that a special anti-adulteration campaign was launched last month. He added that the maximum available resources were being utilised to control adulteration in the division.

He said they were imposing fines on violators and also sealing outlets and factories that were in severe violations of the law.

Responding to a question, he said that fines amounting to Rs648,500 were imposed on food act rules violators; 440 challan slips were issued while 47 FIRs were registered against those found indulging in adulteration in Rawalpindi district.
