CDA halts work on underpass project
Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suddenly stopped construction work on the Margalla Town underpass project on Murree Road which has costed a whopping Rs180 million.
According to sources, 70 per cent of the construction work of the underpass was complete however, when the newly appointed Chairman CDA visited the project, he termed it as futile and directed to halt the construction despite the fact that t a portion of the contractor's fee has already been paid by the CDA.
Surprisingly, the newly appointed chairman has not yet taken any action against the officials of relevant departments who left ignored defects in the plan. Hundreds of residents of Margalla Town, Rawal Town, Poona Faqira, Oriyan and Mohriyan have strongly protested against the decision.
They said that over 10,000 vehicles were supposed to pass through this underpass every day hence the decision to halt the project will have damaging consequences for both the public and the administration. They complained that this halt will directly impact the flow of traffic toward Islamabad Murree Road and will add to the difficulties of the citizens
