MIRANSHAH:

North Waziristan hosted a first-ever girls literary festival in the tribal district in a bid to provide a competitive platform to female students and allow them to tap into their potential skills through extracurricular activities.

The Adabi Mela continued from February 12 to 17 and consisted of eight different categories including recitation of Asma-ul-Husna (names of Allah), drawing and painting, Bait Bazi (a genre of poetry), Pashto poetry, declamation contest, Urdu quiz, national songs and essay writing to assess the competitive abilities of the participants.

A total of 146 students from different schools participated in the event.

The students, teachers and the local people appreciated the initiative taken by the security forces. They said that such events should be organised in the future as well.

Apart from this, the Waziristan Adabi Mela will also be organised next month in which prizes will be distributed to the position holders, including laptops, tablets, and watches.

Vocational courses

Similarly, vocational courses to equip the youth, especially young women, with important skills and technical education have kicked in across the district under the aegis of the Pakistan Army.
