After the storm, comes the calm: Adnan Siddiqui talks about Pakistan's current situation
Actor Adnan Siddiqui recently shared a video on his Instagram, highlighting the current plight of his country and its citizen in a satirical take. The actor shared a message for the new generation and urged people to go back to their roots and remember the reason Pakistan was built in the first place.
The caption stated, “We are living in a time of great uncertainty, and it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed by the challenges that we are facing. We once had a Pakistan that was thriving, a country that was a beacon of hope and opportunity, a picture-perfect vision of our forefathers.”
In the video, he starts off by saying, “Something weird happened today, I woke up and saw something that will shock you all as well.” He depicts a utopian Pakistan as he shows that the water is running smoothly, and electricity and gas are available. He went on to add, “The Dollar rate has dropped to Rs25, Pakistani citizens do not require any visa on their passport, are able to stay anywhere for an infinite period and there is incredible law and order situation.”
The Meray Paas Tum Ho actor shows the view from his room, saying, “Foreigners are swimming, people are roaming around without any fear and there is peace.” He then changes the mood of his video, adding that he was only being sarcastic. Siddiqui went on to relay that all of this is only his dream and has been the vision of his forefathers. The Mom star said, “No, this is my and my forefather’s dream. Maybe, someday I might pass away while only wishing for this to come true. But what about the new generation of Pakistan? Will they keep dreaming this as well or will this ever come true?”
He elaborates in the caption, “And now it is struggling to keep up with the changing times. I see the hardships of our people every day - so many people going hungry, struggling to make ends meet, and losing their jobs. It fills me with deep sadness and heartache.”
He further says, “However, it is the future of our children that truly scares me. What kind of world are we leaving behind for them? Will they have to face even greater challenges and adversities than we are facing today? These are difficult questions to answer….questions I don’t have any answers to…”
The actor-producer says that he wishes for a miracle that this vision turns into reality. He concludes by urging people to say something. “Do not be morally ignorant. Look at the situation of Pakistan, speak up.” He expresses that he still has faith in a better future. “All I know is that after the storm comes the calm. And I hope it’s around the bend.”
Pakistan is currently going through a rough economic time, in which there is a lack of basic necessities, including water and electricity and there has been a huge surge in prices.
