LWMC gears up for Raiwind congregation

Staff, equipment deployed until March 5

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) promised extraordinary cleanliness services for the upcoming annual congregation in Raiwind.

According to LWMC sources on Saturday, the company chalked up a comprehensive plan prior to the event and accordingly, would provide special cleaning facilities from February 18 to March 5.

Pre-Ijtema arrangements included the lifting of waste heaps from the main route, the scraping of roads, water sprinkling on main routes and mechanical sweeping along roads.

Additionally, LWMC deployed over 100 workers in three shifts who would work day and night.

The company also installed 10 additional garbage bins along the route and employed the use of various machines, including a mechanical sweeper, two loader dumpers, two water bowzers and four chain-arm-rolls.

LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din said that it was the Company’s prime responsibility to maintain cleanliness in the city, as the congregation at Raiwind was one of the biggest events in Lahore.
