What did I do so wrong: Nida Yasir claps back at trolls after World Cup year snafu

Renowned host failed to answer the correct year Pakistan won its first-ever cricket World Cup

Celebrated host Nida Yasir has hit back after many trolled her online after she failed to answer the correct year Pakistan won its first-ever cricket World Cup. The video posted on Urdflix’s official account went viral on social media with everyone taking a dig at Nida’s response.

Now, the renowned host is responding back. "What did I do so wrong?" she wrote on her Instagram story. "People usually forget their birthdays and their wedding anniversaries among other things. I know many are depressed due to the current circumstances. If my snafu has brought a smile to your face, please laugh wholeheartedly." She went on to add, "If God is with someone, no one can harm them. My fans would keep on supporting and loving me. That's why my motto is 'back off!'."

Nida, along with host Shaista Lodhi, made a guest appearance on former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar’s show titled The Shoaib Akhtar Show. In a teaser released by the streaming platform UrduFlix for the show, the Rawalpindi Xpress was seen asking Nida a trick question.

“When did Pakistan win the 1992 World Cup?” Shoaib asked and the question sent Nida into a confused mode where she couldn’t think of an answer. Instantly, she said “2006?” and then Shaista whispered the correct and rather obvious answer, “1992,” – even though the cricketer asked her not to help Nida.

Hearing that, Nida turned to Akhtar again, rather confidently, and asked him to repeat the question. “When did Pakistan win the World Cup in 2009?” he asked this time. “1992,” blurted Nida. To which, Shaista laughed and said, “At least listen to the question.” At this point, it started to be less funny than she thought it is because she realised how wrong her answers were.

Many took to social media to take a jibe at the Nadaaniyaan actor. Yasir Hussain, too, shared his two thoughts on the matter. "Anyone who would wake up early in the morning for so many years, their mind could only work so much," he joked.

Adding on, the Jhooti star had some advice for Nida. "I think Nida Yasir is cute and I think she should appear for a CSS exam."
