Days after resigning from his party position, former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met his successor, Maryam Nawaz, the newly appointed senior vice president and chief organiser of PML-N, seemingly to quell rumors of any brewing differences between them.
According to the media reports, the meeting lasted for more than an hour.
During the meeting, Maryam was quoted as saying, “with your (Abbasi’s) guidance, I want to work for the betterment of the country and the party”.
She added that PML-N was “not her property” and that everyone should work for the party under Nawaz Sharif’s guidance.
“Leaders like you (Abbasi) are a pride for the PML-N. Your sacrifices [for the party] cannot be forgotten.”
Abbasi was quoted to have saying that he was a part of the PML-N and would not leave the party.
He said Nawaz was his leader, adding that Premier Shehbaz Sharif’s guidance was “always there” for him.
