Harbanspura police have arrested two suspected hitmen hired by a woman to kill her husband.
According to investigators, Sumera was married to Shahid Rasheed but wanted to marry her cousin Rashid who lives in Saudi Arabia.
The suspect, in connivance with her cousin, hatched a plan to murder Shahid and they hired two shooters for Rs1.3 million.
The shooters, Hussain alias Pappu and Naqash Daud, approached the victim when he was sitting at his clinic and shot him dead.
The police launched the investigation after registering the case and arrested the suspected shooters as well as the woman.
The details were revealed by Lahore Cantonment Investigations SP Akhlaq Ullah Tarar during a press conference. SP Tarar said the murder was committed on January 18.
The victim was a former navy official.
The prime suspect, Rashid, travelled to Lahore after hatching the plan and met the suspect Abid Ali, allegedly the ring leader of a gang of shooters.
They finalised the deal to murder the victim for Rs1.3 million. Initially, Rs300,000 was paid.
The police official said Rashid travelled back to Saudi Arabia and sent Rs1 million illegally through hawala to the murderers.
The suspects conduct reconnaissance of the victim before targeting him.
They were also allegedly being provided information from Shahid from abroad and Sumera.
The shooters made a plan to attack the victim at the clinic where he regularly sat.
On the day of the attack, five men reached the spot.
Two of them stood at a distance from the clinic to keep watch.
The three others went ahead on a motorbike to shoot the victim.
