Musk creates system to show Twitter users his tweets first

Obsessed with low engagement on his tweets, Musk reportedly changes algorithm to prefer his tweets on For You timeline

Twitter's 'For You' tab was flooded with tweets and replies to tweets from Elon Musk, on Monday. In acknowledgment of the system error, the Twitter CEO tweeted, “Please stay tuned while we make adjustments to the uh .… ‘algorithm.’”

The system's preference for Musk's tweets came just days after he complained that his tweets weren't getting enough views. Internal Twitter data obtained by the Platform indicated that engagement with Musk's tweets dropped, though search ranking popularity rose in April 2022.

On the weekend, Twitter rolled out a change to fix this “visibility” issue, while the billionaire said that 95 percent of his tweets weren’t “getting delivered.”

According to The Verge, Musk's obsession with low engagement on his Twitter led him to call a meeting with engineers at the company. On Monday, Twitter deployed code to automatically “greenlight” all of Musk’s tweets, showing his tweets to users in preference.
