Football coach off to England for training
Football coach Zubair Ghulam Rasool Baloch has left for a two-week training course at Swindon Town Football Club after being selected in a talent hunt organised by the English club at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT).
The camp saw two teams of 23 children participating in daily competitions, displaying great enthusiasm and love for football.
Earlier, at the closing ceremony of the camp, Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon spoke about the football talent in Lyari and the efforts made to provide opportunities for children to demonstrate their potential through world-class training.
He said that an agreement was signed between Swindon Town and the Karachi Football Club to start a trial for under-15 children in Karachi, resulting in the selection of 23 children and coaches for continued training under the supervision of English club side.
Swindon Town is also exploring bringing Pakistani players to the big stage in Europe, with two Lyari boys selected to spend a year at the club.
