KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the publication of the names and descriptions of the missing people in the print and electronic media and the submission of its reports to the home and defence secretaries in response to the petitions filed regarding the recovery of the missing persons, including Naeem Ullah.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, while hearing the petitions sought a list of people currently detained at the detention centres in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

The petitioner's counsel stated before the court that a citizen, Naeem Ullah, has been missing since 2015. Justice Phulphoto questioned the investigation officer (IO) about where the detention centres reports were. The IO answered that the reports have not been obtained despite the letters written to the detention centres. Justice Phulpoto remarked that the reports of the detention centres are not available even after years.

Citizen's name in Fourth Schedule

A two-member bench headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto heard the petition objecting to a citizen's name is included in the Fourth Schedule.

Usman Farooq, the petitioner's lawyer, told the court that in 2014, the police falsely accused his client, leading to his placement in the Fourth Schedule.

He said that the police filed false cases against the petitioner.
