Imran is a failed experiment: Maryam
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz fired a broadside against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, as she addressed a workers convention during her daylong visit to Abottabad on Thursday.
The PML-N senior vice president lampooned the PTI chief, accusing him of all the ills facing the country, particularly Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), saying that the experiment of imposing a “mental patient” upon the people of Pakistan had failed miserably.
“By imposing a mental patient like Imran Khan on 220 million people, Pakistan suffered irreparable damage because Imran Khan had nothing to do with the people, he is an egoistic person,” Maryam Nawaz told the party workers and leaders.
“He is the person who, after being removed from power, is crying every day about external conspiracy, and sometimes internal conspiracy. His claims of conspiracy start from America and end at Mohsin Naqvi [the incumbent caretaker chief minister of Punjab],” she added.
Maryam Nawaz said that the PTI chairman, brought the K-P province to the brink of destruction. Imran deceived the people of K-P for 10 years. Political interference destroyed every government institution, including universities, schools, colleges and hospitals, she continued.
She also mocked the PTI chief’s call for Jail Bharo Tehreek [court arrest drive], saying that why should the PTI workers go to jails, while his frontmen had fled to Dubai with billions of rupees. She added that the PTI chief was misleading the people.
“We can see,” she remarked, only one project, the bus rapid transport (BRT) project whose cost rose to Rs128 billion, while Shahbaz Sharif, the then chief minister of Punjab, completed four projects of metro bus with that much amount.
She expressed her shock at the suicide bombing at a mosque in the Peshawar Police Lines, saying if it was a failure of security agencies then its responsibility lied on Imran Khan. She said that the PTI which governed the province for the last 10 years did not enhance the capacity of law-enforcement agencies.
“The K-P government was given huge funds in the fight against terrorism but all was wasted in their lavish expenses for personal use,” she alleged. She however, praised the K-P police for their sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
Maryam Nawaz asked the people to compare the 10 years of Punjab under Shahbaz Sharif with Imran Khan’s 10 years in K-P, and four years of Nawaz Sharif as the prime minister with Imran Khan’s four years as prime minister.
“Imran Khan will have to be held to account for his all sins and wrongdoings whether he hides himself in Zaman Park or in Bani Gala,” she said. She also mocked the PTI chief saying that he was not that important that someone plotted to kill him.
The PML-N chief organiser appreciated the people of Hazara, who knew the difference between good and bad. She asked the workers and general public to cast their votes in favour of PML-N for the revival of economy and the development of K-P.
