Ceremony celebrates Pakistani seeds from Chinese space station

First ever Pakistani seeds launched into space as part of experiment in collaboration with China, returned safely

A celebration ceremony marking the return of Pakistani seeds from a Chinese space station was held at COMSTECH in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Dr Ahsan Iqbal was joined by the Chinese Charge d'Affaires Pang Chunxue alongside other representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology, COMSTECH and Pakistan Science Foundation, OIC Ambassadors, students, and media.

At the event, Chunxue expressed her gratitude towards scientists on both sides for their joint efforts, as well as other concerned persons and authorities.

She stressed China's commitment to further deepening ties with Pakistan, particularly in development, agriculture, science and technology.

The event, she stressed, was an example of implementation of the consensus reached between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the former's visit to China.

This year also marks the ten-year anniversary of BRI and CPEC.

The friendly neighbours have continued to collaborate on projects including but not limited to agriculture, energy and industry.
