ISLAMABAD:

The special committee of the National Assembly on the reinstatement of sacked employees initiated punitive action against the top Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) officials for defying its orders.

The committee has written a letter to the Establishment Division to dismiss the aviation secretary, CAA director general and the PIA chief executive officer for not reinstating the employees, who were sacked for possessing fake degrees.

Previously, the committee had ordered the reinstatement of the employees dismissed since 2009 on charges of possessing fake degree. The committee also ordered the restoration of the perks of 840 employees, including closure of cases against them.

The committee took the action after the high-ups in the aviation sector not only failed to reinstate the dismissed employees but also skipped the committee meeting. The committee asked the Establishment Division to remove the Aviation Secretary, CAA DG and PIA CEO and reinstate the sacked employees.
