HYDRABAD:

Biometric identity verification systems will be installed in all the offices of the Sub-Registrar Property in the province to prevent impersonation in the property registration process.

The officers of the Board of Revenue (BoR) Sindh and NADRA Technologies Limited (NTL), a subsidiary of the National Database and Registration Authority, signed an agreement at the Revenue House, Clifton, in Karachi on Wednesday.

Automation of Stamps and Registration Project Director Abdul Wajid Shaikh and Deputy Director NTL Malik Saleem signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. The Member Board of Revenue, Syed Ahmed Ali Shah, Inspector General Registration Sindh Zulfiqar Ali Khushk and other officers of BoR and NTL were present on occasion.

Underlining the importance of the biometric system, Shah said it would help ensure accurate identification of the people, including the sellers and buyers, carrying out the property transactions. "This will improve transparency in the property registration," he expressed hope. He reiterated the resolve to transform the BoR into a modern public sector organisation.

The Project Director Shaikh said NADRA linked biometric system is the most effective and safe method of identification of individuals in Pakistan. Implementing this digital IT solution in property registration will eliminate the risk of fraud and impersonation in property registration and check the illegal property transfer, he added.

Malik said that their biometric solution is deployed in both public and private sector entities of Pakistan because it has an extraordinary edge over conventional identification methods.
