Missing persons: JSQM worker bailed out for Rs10,000
The Khoso brothers who also went missing have not been traced as yet.
KARACHI:
Ikhtiyar Chandio of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), who was picked up by police in March, was released after posting bail for Rs10,000.
Chandio was reported missing on March 17 when a police team intercepted the inter-city coach he was travelling in and took him away. Chandio’s mother, Sakina, filed a constitutional petition with the court in an attempt to retrieve her son.
The court, in turn, pressured the police into bringing the political activist before the court or to face jail sentences themselves.
The police produced Chandio on Friday along with two FIRs registered on August 22 that accused him of attacking police officials and possession of explosives.
The division bench of the Sindh High Court hearing the case, led by Justice Maqbool Baqar, heard the Sindh Additional Advocate General, granted the accused bail and ordered his immediate release.
Brothers Qabil Khoso and Sohbat Khoso, who also went missing with Ikhtiyar Chandio, have not yet been traced and a petition for their recovery is likely to be filed on Monday.
