Man killed for ‘meddling’ in family feud

Armed men broke into a house in Surjani Town in the early hours of Monday and shot a man dead while he was asleep.
According to the police, the suspects entered the house near Siddiq Ground in the Eidgah area within the limits of Surjani Town police station. They shot dead 36-year-old Mohsin Shahzad before fleeing the scene.
After receiving the information about the incident, the police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
After initial investigation, the station house officer (SHO) of Surjani Town police station Yasin Gujjar told The Express Tribune that the deceased Mohsin was shot dead by his brother-in-law, Bashir and his accomplices.
According to police, Bashir's son Adeel had divorced his wife and married another woman. Upon this, Bashir had thrown his son out of the house. Mohsin had allowed Adeel to stay at his house, which enraged Bashir.
The suspect Bashir had accused the victim of being involved in his son's divorce and second marriage, police said. He had threatened to kill Mohsin and his family and the matter seemed to be one of personal enmity, Gujjar said.
He said that on the day of the incident, Mohsin's father Muhammad Hasan, a tailor by profession, left home for work. The mother of the deceased was offering Fajr prayers. In the meantime, three accused entered the house by opening the door with a key and went straight to Mohsin's room and shot him dead.
The SHO added that the families of the victim and the suspect were relatives and had the keys of each other's house.
He said that bullet shells and other evidence from the crime scene had been collected from the crime scene, whiel the police was conducting raids to apprehend the accused and his accomplices. The victim was said to be a worker of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.
