Another furniture warehouse gutted
A fire broke out at another furniture warehouse located in the New Town Overseas Co-operative Housing Society area of the city, with initial assessment suggesting the value of the goods to be in the millions.
The area police and two fire engines arrived at the scene initially, with firefighters bringing the blaze under control after an hour of their arrival. Another tender and a bowser joined the effort. During the fire, the warehouse shed as well as its outer wall collapsed. As the blaze increased in intensity, the firefighters called reinforcements and the additional bowser and tender was dispatched. A car and a motorcycle also came in the range of the fire after the outer wall collapsed. Both vehicles were destroyed.
The fire department said that they weren’t provided timely information about the fire, and the warehouse owners tried to control it on their own. That is why the fire spread towards the warehouse’s outer wall, which later collapsed.
