Twitter to charge businesses $1000 for gold verification

Twitter to charge extra $50 per month to add any additional badges to each account associated with the business

Twitter plans to charge business $1,000 per month for gold verification badges as the social media giant looks at avenues to increase its revenue.

As per a tweet by Social Media Consultant & Industry Analyst Matt Nawarra, Twitter is also planning to charge an extra $50 per month to add any additional badges to each account that is associated with the respective business.

Businesses use gold verification badges to verify themselves and distinguish them from other accounts. As a part of the verification, the company adds badges showing miniature versions of their Twitter profile pictures to the accounts of anyone associated with them.

Both moves are part of the plan to monetize the platform and increase falling revenues.

As of now, Twitter has not officially announced the charges for the Gold verification.
