Commandoes to be deployed at SHC
The chief justice of the Sindh High Court called a high-level meeting of law-enforcing agencies on Saturday in which it was decided to increase security at courts and deploy police commandoes on the SHC premises.
The measures include surveillance of walls in the court’s periphery.
Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon briefed Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh on the security situation and how the police is utilizing technology to improve security and counter terrorist attacks.
Officials of the Home Department, Pakistan Rangers and police attended the meeting.
Law enforcers were already placed on high alert in the provincial capital following the brutal suicide attack in Peshawar earlier this week that claimed at least 100 lives, the majority of them policemen.
“We try to provide security to every institution, but we are also facing scarcity of resources,” IG Memon said while speaking to journalists after the meeting.
He said that the Sindh police had made a conscious effort to move towards technology in the last two years.
He ducked questions about the arrest of Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rasheed and the woman who slapped an elderly traffic police officer a few days back.
