Police see another reshuffle before by-elections

Transfer orders of 30 district police officers issued

The services of an additional IG rank officer (BPS-21), five DIG rank officers (BPS-20), one SSP rank (BPS-19) and two SP rank officers (BPS-18) have been surrendered to the Establishment Division by the Punjab government.

During the day, the orders of transfer of at least 30 district police officers (DPOs) were also issued.

The surrendered officers had remained posted on important postings during the tenure of the previous government.

The transfer of DPOs is the part strategy of an overall overhaul of police hierarchy. At the initial stage, the IGP and additional IGs were transferred followed by regional police officers and city police officers (CPOs).

After the transfer of DPOs, inspectors and SHOs were transferred throughout Punjab.

The services of over two dozens of senior police officers were also surrendered to the Establishment Division during 2018.

Most of the senior police officers could not make back to Punjab during PTI government but only recently at key police posts on the orders of this interim set up.

The surrendered officers included additional IG Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, (BS-21), DIG AGHA muhammad Yousaf (BS-20), DIG Muhammad Akhtar Abbas (BS-20), DIG Muhammad Saleem (BS-20), DIG Ahmed Jamalur Rehman (BS-20), SSP Ghulam Mubashir Maken (BS-19), DIG Munir Masood Marth (BS-20), SP Bilal Qayyum (BS-18) and SP Farooq Amjad (BS-18).

The districts where DPOs have changed included Sargodha, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sialkot, Narowal, Chakwal, Khanewal, Attock, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Chiniot, TT Singh, Jhang, DG Khan, Lodhran, Talagang, Okara, Bahawalnagar and Vehari.

The other officers included Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, RY Khan, Muzaffargarh, Murree and Kot Addu.
