The District Peace Committee (DPC) in Multan expressed its resolve to forge unity in society, particularly amid the turbulent sociopolitical climate in the country.
The committee, during a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Tahir Wattoo on Friday, strongly condemned the recent wave of terrorist attacks in different parts of the country.
Scholars hailing from different schools of thought and representatives of business community attended the meeting.
Stressing on the importance of unity among people in the current situation, the DC said that it is indispensable to deal with evil forces.
He added that the Punjab government had taken concrete steps to crush terrorism and appealed to scholars to foster peace, tolerance and brotherhood among the public through Islamic teachings.
The DC sought their full support in achieving this goal. Mufti Usman, Mazhar Gilani, Asghar Naqvi and others were present on the occasion.
