Twitterati to the rescue after Aliza Sultan gets trolled for getting a haircut

It took a video for the morale brigade to storm the comment section of Syeda Aliza Sultan's Instagram profile and ridicule her for getting something rather common for many of us: a haircut.

Sultan, who announced divorce from popular actor Feroze Khan last year, has been sharing glimpses of her life on the photo-sharing app. However, trolls felt obliged to criticise her, adding how "she took a divorce to gain sympathy" or "just to become famous".

A user remarked that being a divorced woman in Pakistan is so hard that "you begin to wonder what if you had never existed!" She wrote, "A divorce is never a happy or exciting process for women! But that doesn’t mean that a divorced woman will mourn all her life because she decided to leave a piece of sh*t."

One user shared how the comments highlighted were all by women. "Nothing is more disappointing in this world than women not standing up for women," the user penned.

In one of her posts, a social media user, while calling Khan an "ideal man", shared how the life of a divorced woman is full of struggles. The said user further shared what kind of future would she be giving her two children. To this, Sultan responded, "A better present and future, Alhamdulillah."

In September last year, Sultan took to social media and shared she had to "endure infidelity, blackmail and degradation" by Khan. "Our marriage of four years was utter chaos," Aliza said in a statement. "In addition to continuous physical and psychological violence during this period, I had to endure infidelity, blackmail and degradation at my husband's hands." She added that after careful consideration, she has "reached the sad conclusion that I cannot spend my whole life in this horrific manner."

Aliza went on to comment, "The welfare and well-being of my children have played a significant role in this decision. I do not want them to grow up in a toxic, unhealthy and violent household. I am afraid that their mental development and approach to life would be negatively impacted by exposure to a such hostile environment."

Further elaborating, she shared, "No kid should ever have to grow up feeling violence to be a normal part of relationships. I would rather teach them that no wounds are too deep to be healed, no scars too shameful to be concealed at the cost of one's safety."
