KURIANWALA:

Police opened fire on a motorcyclist when he defied the police's signal to stop in the Gulberg area.

He was shifted to a hospital.

Meanwhile, the mother of the injured youth filed a complaint with the IG of Punjab against the police for, what she claimed, harming her son.

According to the police sources, ASI Safdar Ali, Havaldar Masood Parvez and Constable Hasan Abbas Ilyas were on duty near Gulberg’s ABC Bridge in the late hours of the night.

When the police flagged down three suspected motorcycle riders near the Kamalabad graveyard, the bikers allegedly opened fire. Shan, a resident of Street No. 9, Mohalla Zubair Colony, was shot in the right elbow during the police's retaliatory fire. The police shifted him to the hospital.

However, Irshad Bibi, mother of the injured, alleged in her application sent to the IG that her son was a hardworking rickshaw driver.

Irshad Bibi said that her son had been riding a motorcycle when Gulberg police station staff members wearing uniforms signaled him to stop.

She accused the police officers of abusing their authority by opening fire on her son when he failed to stop the bike.

“My son, who has no criminal record, is fighting for his life,” said Irshad Bibi.
