Rawalpindi’s bomb disposal squads upgraded

Rawalpindi’s bomb disposal squad has been upgraded on an urgent basis in lieu of the recent suicide blast in a mosque in Peshawar.

The squad has been equipped with modern technical facilities on a war footing to deal with any kind of emergency situation. Moreover, all the squad members have received wireless sets and walkie-talkies to enhance communication between team members.

Red alert shifts of the bomb disposal squad have also been increased from three to four to ensure strict security checks around the city.

These shifts work from 8am to 2pm, from 2pm to 8pm, from 8pm to 12pm, and the newly added shift from 12am to 8am. Additionally, a modern underground mine detection vehicle has been ordered to stay alert 24 hours a day.

In this regard, District Officer Civil Defence Talib Hussain that these measures were taken in view of the security concerns after the blast in Peshawar.
