Caretaker minister seeks central induction policy for doctors

LAHORE:

Caretaker Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Minister Dr Jamal Nasir has termed the launch of 24-hour healthcare service to cardiac patients in all district and tehsil headquarters hospitals a great achievement of the caretaker government.

He said during a visit to the department that the procurement of quality medicines and biomedical equipment should be done through a transparent process. He called for a meeting on the procurement.

Dr Nasir said doctors' recruitment on an ad hoc basis should also be done in a transparent manner, which required a foolproof system.

He said a central induction policy would be devised in consultation with the specialised healthcare department.

The caretaker minister said the launch of specialties in hospitals would result in saving millions of rupees incurred on ambulance service.

He directed the Health Information and Service Delivery Unit to make the Helpline 1033 more active to redress public complaints without loss of time.

Provincial Secretary Dr Irshad Ahmad informed the minister that house job service was being extended to all DHQ hospitals where 17 specialties and nine consultant services were being provided to the patients.

He said development projects worth Rs28 billion were being completed at a fast pace.
